Maintaining your style requires 24 hour vigilance. Sleeping (be naked or be fierce), obviously, but also exercising. Working out is not an excuse to drop the ball stylewise. The best part of working out in the city is knowing that everyone is watching, enviously, one hopes. Athletic wear, apart from a great excuse to wear more spandex, should be an important part of everyone’s closet. Don’t restrict yourself to the gym. Here are some of my favorites:
I wear my Stella McCartney for Adidas running tights to travel.
This fall, Stella McCartney made an athletic line for Adidas. Leggings, jackets, tennis dresses, golf shirts, and hot shorts, in deep violets, red orange, and off white, all made out of pleats, mesh, and orca skin. I have two pairs of black leggings and a signal orange jacket with pleats that inflate with the motion of my arms as I run. I showed off my gazelle legs (seaming is everything) at Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport, D.C.’s Reagan International, and finally New York City’s Penn Station.
I wear my (faux) leather bike shorts in the club (just like Robin). I bought these from Free People. Motorcycle chic for ladies who are still waiting on that first motorcycle.
